Perennials are the mainstay of many gardens, and should be planted more often for garden interest and easing the load of looking after the garden and in particular finding new plants each year. They are invaluable as stand alone plants, or grouped together to form effective ground cover sections. They are not difficult to grow, and as most perennials are 'herbaceous' they are easy to work with and get at in the winter. (Herbaceous simply means a plant that dies down to ground level each winter, only to re-grow again in the spring. herbaceous perennials are NOT herbs!) |
