Nurseries differ from garden centres, in that they mainly sell plants that they grow on their premises. Many nurseries of course, also buy plants from outside sources and markets. They often sell gardening sundries such as peat and compost. Many actually trade as garden centres, but retain their old established names centred around the 'nursery' that they once were. Some 'nurseries' are restricted to 'own produce' by the local authority planning department - an area of much confusion and varying from area to area. |
